For years, murukku has been the first snack to pop up when I think of a Tamil snack. So this time when I was there, I was surprised to find the same mild, comforting taste in a crunchier form- as small beads known as Seedai! A traditional Tamil snack, the bite-sized Seedai is quite popular and is an essential part of naivedhyam during Janmashtami. It comes in two versions - I got you the savory one - also called ' Uppu Seedai'. Enjoyed across the southern region with different names and variations, the Seedai is a perfect addition of crunch to your chai/kaapi time!
