About the Product:- In the streets of Assam, you will encounter a popcorn-like whiff. The chances are that someone is cooking Joha Rice. An heirloom grain originating from Assam, our Natural Joha Rice is delicate in flavour and rich in aroma. It is grown along the mighty Brahmaputra river. It is sourced from farmers who do not use pesticides and chemicals in agricultural practices.This rice has been loved by the indigenous people of the area for centuries and it is believed to be so tempting that the 14th Century Assamese Ramayana written by Kaviraja Madhava Kandali, mentions that food items made from Joha Rice were used by Ravana to awaken his brother Kumbhakarna from his deep sleep.
- Why eat it?
- Don’t let the tiny grains of Joha rice fool you. They are packed with antioxidants, neutralise free radicals and have anti-ageing properties. - Soak the rice for a couple of hours and cook in boiling water for about 8-10 mins. Drain when the rice is done.
